Why I don't trust AMSOIL Engine Flush - and neither should you!

Amsoil is a solvent flush. While spreading 16 ozs of solvent over 160 ozs of motor oil will not weaken the oil film significantly, there is a danger to your engine. 

According to Google search:  "Engine flush volumes are generally verified by measuring the amount of flushing fluid circulated and checking the cleanliness of the effluent using filter patches or turbidity tests. Solvent flushes pose a high risk to lubrication and engine health by dissolving oil varnish, dislodging debris, breaking down oil viscosity, and potentially damaging seals/bearings."

Solvent-based flushes do clean, but they clean too well!

Solvent engine flushes, including part store and quick lube additives, strip clean, or wipe-clean the much-needed and critical oil film separating your motor's pistons, bearings, camshafts, valve lifters, and gears from touching each other more often. That's not good, of course!

Solvents do clean but they also

Wipe-clean the much-needed and critical oil film separating pistons, bearings, camshafts, valve lifters, and gears - from sudden destruction.

Lacking oil even for a moment causes a sudden increase in friction and abrasion - and that cannot be good for your motor, can it? That would mean your gaining one benefit and introducing a negative, right?

I do not understand why they now promote solvents to clean your engine - when, for 20 years, they sold us on the idea that their oil CLEANED better than anybody's oil and lasted longer.

I just put Amsoil in my transmission - so I'm not against their oils, just this flush product. As a mechanic...
