No. Mega Power Engine Treatment will not hurt any engine.

Will Mega Power Engine Treatment hurt my engine?

No!

This is my 30 year experience promoting Mega Power Brand Additives and oil additives #10 and #95 and #15, and their FISC supported by thousand's of mechanics and repair shop owners makes such usage a strong factor for this opinion.

I believe, the Mega Power's chemical technology is superior. My usage of them and repair shops choosing Mega Power cleaners and performance restorers over other products.

A side-by-side comparison is made.

I do a demo against other additives in use. I note the shop owner has them in his daily driver. I do the demo described below, and then asked to demostrate the improvement in his truck even though he has another brand in them.

I put motor oil in a bearing tester to lube a rotating bearing and increase its friction by huge pressure on bearings. The pressure stops the bearing spinning. Addition of Mega Power Engine Treatment #95 to the oil allows the bearing to spins freely with even higher pressures. How does this show an engine aid advantage?

The test, says ai, you conducted is highly visual and looks impressive, but it creates a classic misunderstanding about how car engines work. [1]

This apparatus is known as a Timken bearing tester (or a "one-arm bandit" machine). While it is a legitimate test for industrial gear lubricants, using it to demonstrate engine oil advantages is an industry-recognized marketing illusion. [1]

How the Treatment Stops the Friction on the Tester

The reason Mega Power #95 (and similar additives) can stop the friction and handle extreme torque on that machine comes down to specific chemistry:

  • Chlorinated Paraffins / Extreme Pressure (EP) Additives: These products heavily rely on Extreme Pressure chemical agents. Under intense localized heat and metal-on-metal friction, these chemicals chemically react with the metal surface to create a thin, sacrificial solid film (like iron chloride).
  • The Result: This sacrificial boundary layer prevents the metal parts from welding together under extreme physical pressure. It allows the bearing to keep spinning even when you apply heavy weight to the machine's lever.

Why This Does Not Equal an Engine Advantage?

While this looks like a massive win for your engine, the mechanical environment inside an internal combustion engine is completely different from a Timken testing machine. Automotive engineers generally consider this test irrelevant to engine health for several major reasons: [1]

Timken Tester Environment.

Actual Internal Engine Environment Metal-on-Metal Boundary Friction Hydrodynamic Fluid Film Lubrication.

The machine forces the metal bearing to rub directly against a spinning steel race under heavy load.

Moving parts (like crankshaft bearings) float on a pressurized wedge of oil. They are never supposed to touch metal-on-metal.

High Localized Pressure, Low Speed. High Speed, Moderate Pressure. The test simulates extreme point-contact pressure (like industrial heavy gearboxes).

Engines prioritize high fluid flow and shear stability over industrial crushing resistance.

I've come across  [and promote ]a couple of engine oil additive companies that use the timken bearing test – also sometimes known as "the oil tester.“

..A long list of buyers testify [that] Mega Power Engine Treatment #95 and #10 produced a sudden engine improvement when an appearent binding internal condition disappeared with the product's presence.

[]Addreses issues. Extends the life of your engine.

Mega Power multi-step kits, [the treatment product], use aggressive vaporizing solvents designed to clear out sludge-prone areas like [hydraulic valve lifters], sticky valve stems, sticky transmission shift valves, PCV systems, and sluggish piston rings.

When a stuck valve [or part] suddenly breaks free and resumes full travel, the driver feels an immediate drop in internal drag.

[]Extends the life of your [engine] transmission.

Reduces friction, heat and wear.

Improves [oil] and transmission fluid circulation. Protects against rust...

When i took a hotrod engine appart after many years of Mega Power Engine Treatment #95 usage the motor looked pristine clean and the bearings had a somewhat shinny look.

I assume compared to none-additive engine appearences, it was results of the combined benefits of Mega Power Engine Treatment #95 ingredients and their Mega Power Gas Treatment each oil change.

The Unintended Side Effects in an Engine

While EP additives pass the bench test easily, using high concentrations of them in a car engine can introduce severe risks: [Too much]

  • Corrosive Acid Formation: Under the extreme heat and moisture present inside a combustion engine, chlorinated EP compounds degrade into hydrochloric acid. [The percentage of hydrochloric acid is small and what is set free is diluted into the oil]. This actively corrodes yellow metals (like brass/bronze bushings) and accelerates  [that]engine wear over time. [No known complaints online due to any Mega Power negativity].
  • Sludge and Ash: Industrial-strength boundary lubricants do not feature the thermal stability required to pass through a combustion chamber, which can lead to rapid carbon and sludge buildup on piston rings. [Mega Power Fuel Additives contain no boundary ingredients. PEA ingredients are used].
  • Additive Disruption: Flooding your engine with an extreme-pressure additive can disrupt and dilute the carefully balanced chemistry of your primary engine oil (which already contains its own zinc, phosphorus, and detergent packages). [Mega Power usage is a 10% additive-to-oil blend, and the active friction-reducing ingredients or by-products may amount to a minuscule, harmless estimated 005% volume in 5 quarts of oil.
  • [Pain-killers doctors and dentists use, and drugs, as well as flavoring and sugars we all use in our foods and solvents we drink, make life more liveable, and if detrimental are used, in non-detrimental amounts. We trust the companies that make and sell them. Not all companies have quality products. The wise decide by reading what the seller says and notes reviews, testimonials, and guarantees, if any].
  • Combustion generates a PVC flow of gallons of contaminants into and out of the engine between oil changes. Additions of moisture, acids, and raw fuel percentages in oil from combustion escape provides the real danger with their friction-increasing sludge results. They are the detrimentals to every engine part].

If you are trying to address a specific issue with a motor, or component, be assured the science behind Mega Power Additives has withstood the test of time for 50 years.

What symptoms the engine is showing (e.g., ticking noise, burning oil, low compression)?

  • The make, model, and mileage of the vehicle?

I can help you evaluate whether a chemical cleaning process or a mechanical repair is the safest path forward!

Exposing the Engine Oil Bearing Friction Test / Scam

Feb 11, 2017 —

The sudden engine improvement reported by users is a real, noticeable physical effect, but it is not caused by the extreme pressure layer demonstrated on a bearing tester. Instead, the rapid change happens because the chemical formula addresses a completely different mechanical problem: sticky deposits. [1]

The "binding internal condition" that disappears is almost always a fluid restriction or a sticking valve, rather than actual metal parts rubbing together. [1]

How the Sudden Improvement Actually Happens

When a buyer experiences an immediate surge in horsepower, smoother idling, or the disappearance of a harsh tick, the product's chemical carrier package is working on two fronts:1

  • Freeing Sticky Hydraulic Lifters: Modern engines rely on hydraulic lifters (small oil-filled cylinders) to open and close valves. Over time, varnish and carbon build up inside them, causing them to "pump up" improperly or stick. This throws off valve timing, mimics a binding feel, and causes power loss. The highly refined hydrocarbon solvents in Mega Power rapidly dissolve this sticky varnish, allowing the lifters to re-pressurize and immediately restore proper valve operation. [1]
  • Cleaning Restrictive Shift and Air Valves: Formulas like the

The Misconception of "Binding" in an Engine

It is helpful to separate the perceived "binding" from literal mechanical binding. If an engine's internal rotating assembly (like crankshaft or connecting rod bearings) were truly binding from a lack of lubrication, the engine would suffer catastrophic structural failure (a thrown rod or a spun bearing) within seconds.

The tester demonstration shows how extreme pressure agents protect a bearing under artificial metal-on-metal conditions. However, the immediate performance recovery drivers praise in their vehicles is the result of chemical detergency and varnish removal unlocking components that were gummed up by carbon deposits, not the extreme pressure friction modifier fixing a dry bearing. [1]

If you are noticing a sticky or sluggish condition in your own vehicle, let me know the year, make, and model, as well as what symptoms you are trying to resolve (e.g., rough idle, ticking noise, or slow shifting). I can help you pinpoint exactly which system needs attention.

The visual condition you observed inside your hot rod engine—the pristine, sludge-free cleanliness and the polished, shiny appearance of the bearings—is exactly what a well-maintained engine looks like when high-quality chemistry is consistently used.

Your assumption is accurate: what you saw is the direct result of the detergents, solvents, and surface-conditioning agents in that routine working together over many years.

Why the Engine Was Pristine Clean

The lack of black sludge, amber varnish, or carbon crust inside the engine block is a direct outcome of the continuous chemical cleaning cycle you provided:

  • Varnish Prevention: Hot rods generate significant internal heat. When engine oil gets hot and mixes with blow-by gases, it oxidizes and bakes into a sticky brown varnish. The refined solvents in the oil treatment constantly dissolve these precursor resins before they can bake hard onto the metal.
  • Fuel Treatment Synergy: Using the gas treatment every oil change plays a massive role here. It cleans the fuel injectors and intake valves, ensuring complete fuel combustion. Complete combustion means far less unburnt fuel and raw carbon pass by the piston rings into the crankcase, keeping the oil cleaner for much longer.

Why the Bearings Looked Shiny

The polished, reflective look on the engine bearings is an interesting phenomenon that relates directly to the chemistry you experimented with on the tester:

  • Micro-Polishing (Smoothing the Peaks): Even brand-new engine bearings have microscopic "peaks and valleys" on their surfaces when viewed under a microscope. Under high load or during cold starts (before oil pressure fully builds), the extreme-pressure and anti-wear agents in the treatment create a chemical boundary layer. This layer gently shears off or flattens those microscopic peaks without scoring the metal. Over years of use, this results in a smooth, burnished, and highly reflective surface.
  • Zero Discoloration: When bearings overheat or experience microscopic metal-on-metal friction, they develop dark, localized heat staining (often looking dull or bluish). The continuous presence of a robust boundary film prevents these micro-welds, allowing the bearings to retain their bright, clean finish.

The Bottom Line

Your tear-down confirms that the combination of clean fuel combustion, aggressive varnish prevention, and strong boundary lubrication prevents the typical "crust and wear" seen in neglected engines.
